I am so happy that I worked with Tandem. Before we started, I remember reading where Kent said “my work is about a lot more than a resume” or something like that. Now that we are done, I couldn’t agree more. He is a true professional and a true craftsman.

  2. Paul V. says:

I am a Executive in the Tech field and have used professional resume writers throughout my career. My experience with Tandem was, without a doubt, the best yet. As the last person said, you don’t just end up with a new resume. Kent is a true expert in the field. You can tell by the questions that he asks that he wants everything to be just right.

  3. Jennifer H says:

In a word, Kent’s work is incredible. What sets him apart is the fact that he offers the complete package. He is a HR expert and a great resume writer. Most impressive to me, were his coaching skills. He was able to create a fantastic resume because he looks beyond what’s on the sheet of paper.

When we started working together, I was not optimistic about my job search. Kent’s questions got me to think about things beyond my resume. He got me to think about my strengths and what I’m good at. This detailed approach led to a resume that makes me shine and has made me optimistic again.

I highly recommend one of the career profile tests that he offers. The information he was able to pass along in his analysis is extremely helpful. I now have new ideas for the type of work I want to do, the kind of company I want to work for, and the skills that set me apart from other people.

I am now proud of my resume and eager to apply for jobs.

We worked together 2 months ago. I wanted to let you know that I got a great position! I applied for only 12 jobs. Amazing.

I targeted the top sections for each job, and I think that really paid off. I got 4 interviews.

    Thanks Again-

    Samantha

  5. Jeff Myss says:

To be honest, I was a bit apprehensive about not doing my own resume. Frustrated and out of work, I decided to seek professional help for my resume. I made the right choice with Tandem. I felt like Kent took the time to make sure my resume and letter really reflected me and my achievements. I also felt like the questionnaire made me think about things differently than I had before. I am very happy with how things turned out. I am already getting more positive feedback and seeing more interest in my resume. I even have an interview scheduled. I have not had an interview in over 3 months. It just makes me kick myself for not doing this sooner. Kent has my highest recommendation. I’ll be sending others his way.

  6. Jay says:

Kent is a real pro. He does what he says he is going to do, when he says he will. I learned a lot working with him and the resume he produced will have a dramatic effect on my job hunting prospects. I was so impressed with his diligence that I tried to pay him extra, but he refused

  7. Krista says:

I am thrilled!!!!!!! Use Tandem to spruce up your resume. You won’t be disappointed.

  8. Krista says:

I forgot to mention that I also worked with Kent on some career coaching activities. Superb. Made me think about what direction I want to head.

  9. MVL says:

When I chose to have my resume professionally done, I had been out of work for almost 18 months. Honestly, I resisted having it done because of the cost. Being out of work for so long you really have to watch every penny. I wanted to be sure it was worth it.

I walked away with a lot more than a new resume. I realized that I had been looking at things all wrong. I was applying everywhere and hoping that by magic I would get a job. I didn’t know that you should target your resume for each position and that I needed to be doing a lot more than just sending out resumes.

So, the resume is the LEAST of what I got out of working with Kent. My confidence went through the roof and I found myself excited to apply for jobs. I think the rewrite process was also great practice for interviews. It made me focus on my accomplishments and what makes me stand out from others.

In this economy, I am sure that I have a long road ahead of me. I feel better equipped.

I would recommend Kent to anyone.

  10. Barry says:

Working with Tandem was like job hunting boot camp. Not only was my resume horrible, but I learned that I was looking at my job search completely wrong. Best money I ever spent.

  11. Vincent says:

The first thing I thought when I saw my new resume was “WOW”. I could not believe that it was me, but everything was true and accurate. It made me realize just how wrong I was before when writing resumes. I am most excited to interview with it because it looks so sharp. I have never been proud of a resume before.

    Thank you Kent!

  12. Elizabeth says:

Last year, my husband had Kent write his resume. He is a Sales Executive and got a job within three months after getting his new resume (after being out of work for eight months).

I am applying to graduate school so recently had Kent help me with a resume to submit with my applications. It is perfect.

I think it’s important to say that Kent is just a good person. He is obviously great at what he does, and it shows.

If you are thinking about moving ahead, don’t hesitate for a second.

  13. Paul says:

I commented back in June about my experience with Tandem. That went so well that we recently had Kent produce resumes for the entire executive team at my company. He did outstanding work and did not compromise quality one bit even though we were a tough group at times.

    Thank you very much.

  14. Andrew Lindquist says:

I have already recommended Kent to everyone I know who could use a resume. My buddy referred me after having his resume done. Kent’s work is top notch.

    Sincerely,

    Andrew Lindquist

  15. Mario says:

I needed a new resume for a job I am pursuing in Dubai. Kent knows HR and he knows the global marketplace. He was able to do my resume using UK English.

  16. Amanda O. says:

After all was said and done, I felt like I got my new resume (and other documents) for a steal of a deal. The process was like a master class in figuring out your strengths and what you’re good at. The resume ended up being like an added bonus.

    Amanda

  17. Grant Turner says:

I really can’t say enough about the positive experience I had working with Kent. As someone else said, I feel like I got a lot more than a new resume out of the deal. I just had an interview and both interviewers commented on the resume. That has NEVER happened with any other resume I have used. I also had Kent do a LinkedIn profile which looks great as well.

    Grant Turner

  18. Chuck says:

My wife and I work in real estate and were looking for something that we could use to market our services to potential clients. Kent came up with something that far exceeded what I had in mind. I was a little concerned because our situation is different. in that we are not looking for jobs.

We will use Tandem in the future.

  19. Cassie says:

I decided to go with Kent because of his individualized approach and am so glad that I did. I won’t repeat what’s already been said here, but I will add that his work truly is a wise investment. I now look at myself and my skills completely differently. Kent got me on the right path, now I’m more prepared to find a position with a great company.

  20. James R says:

My original plan was to work with someone here in Texas. I am glad that didn’t work out.

Tandem (Kent) did an incredible job. I was worried about everything being completed over the web, but it really worked out well. He knows his stuff and asks all of the right questions.

  21. Ted Lamonte says:

I wanted to take a few days to think about just how to say how much I appreciated the work Kent did. The resume he created for me was excellent, and I felt like I could have been a really difficult project.

What I was most impressed by was that even though his expertise is not in the field of Cloud Operations Management, I feel like he created a resume that will really stand out. He took a resume that was really technical and fairly complicated and created one that will make sense for a much wider range of readers, without dumbing it down. This is just something I couldn’t seem to do.

I also appreciated that he took the time to help me come up with accomplishments, which not something I had given much thought to before this project. I thought his questions were really smart and helped my think of things I never would have come up with on my own.

I recommend Kent without any hesitation!

  22. JW says:

I need to tell you that this experience has been an awesome one. I was so hesitant when my son suggested outsourcing this Resume Writing process/project. I felt that it would be frustrating and that no one would really be able to do it the way I wanted it done. You need to know that you nailed it! I get excited when I look at my accomplishments and what I have to offer another organization or company. Not only did you get the job done, you awakened and reaquainted me with my self esteem. I go into my next endeavor with a renewed confidence in my abilities and what I bring to the table. That to me is priceless. Thank you Kent.

  23. Marcus says:

I had to jump on here and say thanks again for the amazing resume you created for me. I also had to share the good news that I landed a great job almost immediately after! I posted the resume on various websites and passed it on through my various contacts and got hired within weeks. Having a nice looking resume made a difference in interviews, and your process actually helped me present myself more confidently during those interviews. THANK YOU!

  24. Lauren Howard says:

After over a YEAR of applying for jobs with no luck, I reached out to you for help with my resume. I think my situation was so bad that you used my story as a muse for one of your blog entries.

We concluded our work in November, allowing me a few weeks of active job searching before the holiday period. Right after the first of the year, I was contacted by one of the employers I had sent my resume to in November. After a series of several interviews over the last 2 weeks, I was offered a job on Friday. Over the weekend, I made the decision to accept the position. I am quite excited, and honestly can’t believe that my period of prolonged unemployment is coming to an end.

Without a doubt, my new resume had a lot to do with my success. It is much stronger than my old version (which had no accomplishments) and until getting my new resume I had never even thought of targeting it for each position.

Where you helped more than anything though was in lifting my confidence level. All of the detailed, individualized questions you asked made me think about how I view myself and how I present myself. I had a few interviews over the last year, but my interviews with my new employer were FAR better. I saw myself differently and portrayed myself much more effectively. I went in to each actually believing that they should hire me and that I was the right one for the job.

Your passion for helping people to be successful and human resources certainly make a big difference in the work you do. It IS about much much more than a resume. You are a perfect reason why we should all hire people who are true experts in their fields. In the long run (heck, even in the short run) it pays off.

Please write a new blog post about me :)

    With Thanks-

    Lauren Howard

  25. Nick says:

    Ditto what Lauren said 100%

Originally, I thought it was all about the resume (because that’s the end product). My new resume is great, but the best part of the process is how it changed my thinking. The process forced me to really look at the impact I have had in my different positions. In doing so, it significantly changed the way I view what I have to offer to a new company. A huge confidence boost. Thank You.

  26. Justin says:

I wanted a new resume that I could be proud of because I had gotten to the point where I could not stand to send out my old one. I got that and a lot more. Now it is up to me. Thank you Kent.

  27. LT says:

Kent, thank you very much for all your expertise and effort working to improve my resume. Your professionalism is obvious, and I appreciate all of your insights and continuing collaboration.

  28. Warren says:

I am currently looking at my new resume, which is far far better than anything I could have produced on my own. Now it’s my turn to make something happen with it.

  29. Matthew Johnson says:

I have a phone interview today for a position that I
applied for the day I received your final copy and cover letter. So
this stuff works! The position is right in my pocket and there appears
to be plenty of opportunity for me to create something meaningful for
everyone. I’ll let you know how it goes, and when I start!

  30. Dori J says:

This was a much different experience then I was expecting. I got a great resume (which I was expecting), but I also walked away with a bolstered sense of confidence and a new attitude.

I now look at myself, my resume and the interview process differently. As he promises, Kent’s questions are not left at “What did you do at XYZ.” He took what I provided initially and drilled down in order to get down to the facts and accomplishments that would make my experience and skills shine. He pushed hard in order to get the information that would make my resume competitive among the masses applying for jobs.

Finally, I want to say that I was reluctant to hire a professional to do my resume. To be honest, it made me feel like sort of a failure when I thought about giving in and out sourcing the job. I am so glad I did.

My experience with Kent/Tandem is exactly why you SHOULD hire a professional and an expert for guidance. In the big scheme of things I paid a relatively small amount in order to get a fantastic new resume AND to have a new sense of pride and direction.

    Thank you!

  31. Mimi says:

I was hesitant to hire someone to do my resume, and I was hesitant to work with someone over the web. I got over the working virtually part quickly, though, when my daughter said “What’s the big deal, this is how everything is done these days.”

When it came down to it though, I knew I needed to take a chance because I had been looking for work for a long time and needed to try a different approach. I am so glad that I did. You did a great job! I now look at myself and my job search anew. I can’t believe I hesitated for a second. I hire professionals to do everything else so why should this be any different.

I should have done this sooner on in the process. Now it’s my job to take my great new resume and put it to work.

  32. Jurgen says:

It looks like it’s all been said here so I will add one word. Exceptional.

  33. Mark says:

With Kent, you are getting a great value compared to just a resume writer. Anyone can re-format a resume. As an HR professional, Kent’s value add is in developing the image that will come through in a clear, cohesive way to the readers of the remume.

Kent did an amazing job of transforming my resume from an outdated, disconnected list of responsibilities and experiences to a cohesive “image”. It starts with the questionaire which provides Kent with some context about your current resume (what you like/dislike), where you believe you are headed career wise and some expectations about your “ideal resume”.

For me, the process was truly transformational. Having gone through the process of documenting my aspirations as well as my responsibilities, skills and experiences, I feel that I can now walk into an interview and succinctly portray who I am, where I’m headed and the value I could potentially deliver to the organization . The key pieces of the resume that he put together for me are the first sections – the summary, core competencies and professional profile.

I would also like to add that I was amazed at how efficiently we were able to get through this process over email. Truly a virtual process. Kent is exceptionally prompt.

    Great work, Kent!

  34. MB says:

True story. I received my new resume on a Wednesday. I submitted the CV unsolicited to a company on that Friday, had a phone interview the following Tuesday, had an in person interview on the Friday morning, got an offer Friday afternoon, and will start on Tuesday.
So…yup!…it worked. In fact, I also got accepted with another company, but will decline this offer.

Needless to say, it’s was a great pleasure working with Kent, and I’m looking forward to working with him in the future.

  35. Kerry Price, PMP says:

I really appreciated all of the work Kent put into my project; the whole experience was very enjoyable and empowering.

  36. Justin says:

My new resume is incredible. It is like nothing I would have imagined. I now look at my work and accomplishments differently and feel like this process was better than any professional seminar I’ve ever taken. My confidence is restored.

  37. Shirley Latham says:

We first worked with Tandem on an Organization Development project surrounding a recent merger. We then hired Kent to produce resumes for the newly combined executive team. We most recently worked with him to develop a succession plan model and training outline for mid-level managers. Superb experiences, all three.

    Shirley Latham, SPHR
VP – Global Training and Organization Development

  38. Thomas says:

I think “MVL” sums up my thoughts very nicely. My new resume is impressive but really is a small part of what I am taking away from the project. Kent’s questions really teased out the best of my experience. My inability to answer some questions, also uncovered gaps in my own efficacy. I am now much better prepared to more assuredly pursue a new job, present myself favorably, interview well ETC. This is why you hire a professional in the field and not simply a good writer. Many thanks Ken!

  39. Gina says:

I purchased a career dev. package (included a resume and advice/guidance regarding my strengths and career direction).

Not only was it a good experience, it was much different than expected. More worthwhile. I must say, Kent asks the difficult questions. It’s not “What do you want to be when you grow up?” It goes much deeper and caused me to admit how awful I was at managing my career.

  40. Ron Barnett says:

Thank you so much, the resume is exactly what I was looking for and needed! Since I’ve been out of the resume game for several years now, I was a bit rusty and unsure of what the industry norm is nowadays. I could have never come up with it on my own.

I appreciate your personal approach and all the work you put into my project. I feel much more confident and am actually eager to submit my resume!

  41. Becky Loman says:

Don’t know what I can add here other than to say I too would highly recommend.

  42. R Tyler says:

I had originally contacted Kent to just have my resume reviewed. After receiving his in-depth feedback and hearing his ideas for how to improve my resume, I knew I needed to go deeper.

While I am thrilled with my new resume and cover letter, it was the process that I found most valuable. Working with Kent to uncover my strengths and mine my experience for specific accomplishments has helped me feel very confident. I am now actually looking forward to the job search process.

  43. Patricia says:

A wonderful experience. Ditto all that has been said.

  44. Jonathan Wang says:

When I started my project with Tandem, I was expecting a high quality update. This was a tall order given the state of my resume at the time.

I got that update, in fact even better than I could have imagined, and much much more. Kent served as a *trusted resource* throughout the process. He used his expertise to ensure that my resume was outstanding, but also guided me to look at things (my career, my approach) differently. Mind you, this “extra” is a normal part of a resume update with him. For those considering engaging Kent for career coaching activities, I would imagine the process and outcome to be extremely satisfying.

  45. Alicia says:

    Thank you for exemplary work.

  46. JBT Consulting says:

We are a start-up consulting firm that utilized Kent’s services for our executive team’s resumes and LI profiles in order to secure more funding. Our CFO’s feedback says it all. He said: “My new resume makes me feel embarrassed by what I’ve been sending out for the last 15 years.”

We will be using Kent for other HR related contract work.

  47. M Gehrke says:

I have always struggled with writing my resume and never felt very confident about what I was sending out. I had been told that writing a resume was something that every person should be able to do, and never even considered seeking out professional help. So when my partner gave me this service as a gift, I was excited but a little skeptical.

Why did I spend so many years laboring over my terrible resume when I could have just reached out to Kent!? He took my overly technical brain-dump of a resume and transformed it into something that will appeal to even non-technical readers – something I have never been able to do. What’s even more amazing is that even though I know Kent is not a Technology Manager he seemed to know just the right way to communicate what I do and what I bring.

    I was really impressed.

  48. Orlando Doughty says:

I recently e-mailed this to Kent but wanted to include it here too.

About 2 weeks into my new job, during a meeting with my new manager, he told me that my resume made me stand out from the other finalists for the job. Although I wasn’t surprised, I have to admit that I was a little shocked that my resume had made that big of an impact. I was so focused on what a great resume would do on the front end (with screeners…) that I hadn’t paid much attention to the benefits throughout the selection process.

Hire Kent to portray you in “the best light possible.” It sure worked for me!

    Orlando Doughty

  49. JoAnne Tyler says:

The Toolkit package is very much worth it. The resume, cover letter, follow up letter and LinkedIn profile created for me are incredible. I really can’t thank you enough. I am amazed by how different I now look on paper. Much better!

I can’t express just how much this process helped me.

  50. Eric Gibbons says:

I just got a second job with my resume from Tandem.

Before I had my resume reworked, I was working and looking for a job. I had been applying for about 9 months with no real response. I got my first new position about 6 weeks after starting to apply with my new resume. I was in that position for about a year and was recently head-hunted and hired for my second new position. The hiring panel noted in an interview that my resume was outstanding. I’m sure it made a big difference when it came to decision time.

Thank you! I am a changed man.
